Ekadashi is the 11th day of each lunar fortnight (Shukla and Krishna Paksha), making 24 Ekadashi dates per year. Devotees observe a strict fast (vrat) on Ekadashi — abstaining from grains, beans, and certain vegetables — and break the fast on Dwadashi (12th day) at a specific muhurat called Parana.
